Well, I am using the airport’s Wi-Fi while it lasts. Why do airports want to charge for Wi-Fi, anyways? They make enough money because of people like me who forget to pack (fill in the blank) have to go to their little stores and buy it at the last possible second. That is besides the point.
This is my post on my travels to see the Chronicles of EMS premiere live in San Francisco.
Yesterday, I took a 3 hour road trip to my godmother’s. She lives about 5 miles away from Bush International in Houston, so she agreed to let me crash there and also drive me to the airport in the morning. The ride up was uneventful- I had a great conversation with my buddy Jeramedic on the way up. Not so much up… pardon. On my way west. Well, I settled in with my Nanny and Uncle Wayne and watched Survivor until it was time to turn in.
I woke up this morning like a kid on Christmas! I’d wake up every few hours to check on Twitter and check the time. I just couldn’t wait to wake up and start getting ready for my 5 hour flight out west!
Currently, I am sitting in the airport, next to a guy with pretty shoes and a Mac just like mine. I think I’m going to be his friend. I’m also going over things in my mind, trying to remember if I’ve forgotten anything. Hopefully I have everything…
I’m also waiting in nervous anticipation. Finally I get to meet my buddies whom I’ve kept up with online for so long. Justin, Mark, Chris Kaiser, Chris Blair, and Jeremiah. I also get to see Ted, Chris Eldridge, Chris Montera, and Greg Friese again. That will be a fun reunion! (Notice all of the Chris’? Geebus! I didn’t even notice that until yesterday!)
So, here I am. What brought me to where I am now? How did I get so involved with Chronicles that I would take the weekend off and fly 2,000 miles West to see a 15 minute premiere that I could have watched on the web, from home, in Louisiana?
Well, you know, I bet the people who went sit on those steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 didn’t expect to be a part of history. But they were- they heard the immortal words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. claiming that he had a dream.
30 years from now, whenever anyone brings up EMS, I think with all of my heart that they will all think back to February 2010 to the premiere of Chronicles of EMS, and know that this is the movement that changed EMS as we know it. I want to be a part of that, I want to bear witness to history.
I will be a part of history.
More to come as the trip progresses! I’ll be landing in San Fran at 10:12 am, tour a little bit, and then start getting ready for this evening! I’ll post more later!
